- To provide infrastructure and research facilities in tribal art, culture, tradition, language, tribal medicine, customs, forest based economic activities, flora and fauna and advancement in technologies relating to the natural resources of tribal areas
- To conduct basic as well as applied research on tribal related issues.
- To take up evaluation of various schemes implemented by state as well as Central
- Government aimed at Tribal development.
- To provide competence building opportunities to the Tribal.
- To develop and maintain Tribal Culture related to the tribes and tribal area development.
- To preserve and propagate culture, heritage and traditions of Tribes.
- To disseminate information about the Tribes and their indigenous knowledge and skills.
